BaitoneAlpino Suggests: Negrar di Valpolicella

The municipality of Negrar di Valpolicella—the most populous of the five towns making up the Valpolicella Classica zone—sits at the crossroads of Verona’s art, history, and charm and the pristine nature of the gently rolling mountains of Lessinia. The primary activity in this rich territory is the production of renowned Valpolicella wines; the area boasts numerous wineries—mostly small to medium-sized—and hosts many events dedicated to the world of Valpolicella wine. The most significant of these are undoubtedly the “Vetrina dell'Amarone” and the “Palio del Recioto e dell'Amarone”. Beyond its natural beauty and winemaking heritage, Negrar offers visitors much more: Villa Mosconi Bertani (in Arbizzano) and Villa Rizzardi—with its Pojega Garden—are two magnificent villas well worth a visit. And if you feel like venturing a little further into the mountains, visit the Prun Quarries; it is well worth the trip!
