Buon ferragosto!
Ferragosto is the popular Italian name, dating back to ancient Rome, for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, celebrated on August 15th in most Catholic countries. It is believed to derive from festivals held in honour of Augustus (Feriae Augusti). In Italy, Ferragosto is a widely celebrated occasion; many shops and businesses close to mark the holiday, which is traditionally dedicated to picnics, barbecues, outings, bonfires, and fireworks shows, as well as, given the heat, refreshing swims in pools, sea, rivers, or lakes.
