BaitoneAlpino Suggests: Arciducale Park in Arco

The Archducal Park of Arco is a magnificent arboretum at the foot of the old town of Arco. Recently renovated, the arboretum is a portion of the park that once surrounded the residence of Archduke Albert of Habsburg, built in 1872, when Arco became a winter resort for the Austrian nobility. This is thanks to the climate, made mild by the proximity of Lake Garda. To make guests' stay pleasant and relaxing, gardens are created that remain lush and in bloom even in the most unfavorable seasons. In Arco, Mediterranean and subtropical plants grow, evergreens that flower or bear fruit precisely during this period, transforming the town into a veritable winter garden. Exploring this ancient park, you will encounter trees and shrubs from the Mediterranean, North America, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Canary Islands. These are evergreen plants, typical of warm climates, with showy and fragrant blooms. The Arboretum still preserves some specimens planted during the Archduke's reign, such as the majestic holm oaks and large conifers, including the Lawson cypress and the enormous evergreen sequoia. When visiting the park, please speak quietly so as not to disturb the countless animals that live within, and respect the vegetation. You will fully enjoy this little corner of paradise!
