BaitoneAlpino Suggests: Verona
The city of lovers! Made famous by Shakespeare's tragedy “Romeo & Juliet” Verona is one of the most beautiful Italian cities. The starting point of the exploration can only be Piazza Bra, the main square, where you can admire both the ancient doors of the square and the Verona Arena, the historic amphitheatre used for the most important opera festival in Italy. From here you can continue towards Castelvecchio through Via Roma, to admire the residence of the noble Scaligeri family and cross the Adige River through the castle bridge, or dedicate yourself to a bit of shopping through Via Mazzini, which will take you to Piazza Erbe, from where you can admire the Torre dei Lamberti, the Piazza dei Signori and continue with the exploration towards the Scaliger Arches, the tombs that house the nobles of the family. Or you can walk along Via Cappello, to come across Juliet's balcony and the remains of the ancient walls of Verona. In short, wherever you turn, you can appreciate the history and culture of Verona between a museum and a monument, and, why not, stop for an aperitif in the most typical inns and taverns of the historic centre.
