BaitoneAlpino Suggests: Monte Altissimo

Monte Altissimo, with its 2079 m above sea level, is the highest peak in the Baldo chain and can also be reached via Malcesine! To reach it, take the Malcesine cable car, once you get to the top, you will have to go north taking the first climb on the left immediately after the cable car fence. Continue north and as soon as you pass the poles of the ski slope, follow the highest path that leads to the northernmost point of the Monte Baldo ridge. Here you will enjoy splendid views across Lake Garda, Monte Baldo and Brentonico. Go down to the right, towards the east, staying on path 651 until you reach the road. Then continue left up to the Bocca Navene refuge at 1425m. Shortly after the refuge, you leave the asphalt road for path 651 which first passes through the woods and then cuts through the meadows, always climbing up the ridge. Once the stretch on the meadow is over, continue on a military road that intersects with the dirt road of path 633 which leads to the Altissimo refuge. You can also shorten the excursion by reaching the mountain from the opposite side. You have to go by car to Brentonico, in Trentino, from the Bocca Navene refuge you can then go on foot to the top of Altissimo. Always remember to bring water and food with you, wear comfortable shoes, cover your head with a hat and don't forget sunscreen! The summer sun in the mountains makes itself felt 😊 Don't take this path in winter, the snow makes it impassable. PS: from our village, you can see Monte Altissimo looking down on you!
